The two designers met in 1980 and designed for the same fashion house where Gabbana became a mentor of such to Dolce. In 1982 they launched a designer consulting together, it then grew to eventually become what we know as Dolce and Gabbana. D&G’s first womenswear collection occurred in 1985 at Milan fashion week. The two designers were known as "the boys" as they were still very young, this collection was heavy on black lace and was a 'Sicilian Window' look. A year later their first store opened in Milan. The brand then started to export designs to the United States where they founded their own showroom in 1990. In 1992 they launched their first menswear collection and launched their first perfume....
