Dolce and Gabbana has achieved the E-label. This is the lowest possible score for sustainability. They haven't communicated nothing concrete about the policies for environment, carbon emissions or labor conditions in low-wages countries. For is as consumers, it is unclear wether Dolce and Gabbana is committed to sustainability or not.
According to the Dolce and Gabbana website and code of ethics, they state that respect for the environment is a fundamental value that the company pursues by adopting a sustainable conduct when performing its activities and supporting initiatives and projects to combat climate change.
However I couldn't find any projects Dolce and Gabbana have done to combat climate change like they state. However unlike many luxury brands Dolce and Gabbana do a sale with their previous season stock. A lot of luxury brands do not reduce the price of old stock in sales as it is seen to lessen the brand image and ruin the luxury effect, instead they dispose of the stock by burning it. After Burberry were exposed of burning their stock in 2018 it is now under watch and stock it meant to be recycled into new stock.
I think in this day and age it is very old fashioned not to be sustainable, consumers want to know about how the brand does its part for the planet and this black area in Dolce and Gabbana's will make consumers consider not buying the brand.
