Dolce and Gabbana admit that they copied the 1989 'sex' necklace from Vivienne Westwood in their 2003 collection.
Many designers take inspiration from other designers but a direct copy is lazy and unprofessional. Stefano Gabbana posted an instagram post saying "Okay its true!!" he wrote on the caption " We were stupid and ignorant when we did this!!! we say SORRY to the genus #viviennewestwood as we pay much attention to her work!"This post was made in 2017 after the instagram account @whodiditfirst noted the similarities between the Vivienne Westwood necklace and the Dolce and Gabbana one. Its not the first time that brands have copied each other however it is very un seen that a brand admits to it and takes responsibility. Its a shame that the apology had to come 14 years late however I think it is a very brave move to make and own up for what the brand did. I also think the fact that Dolce and Gabbana could dopy someone else iconic design suggests they have no original designs for themselves and is not very creative.

Current: This brand positioning Map is where I feel the brand currently sits in the market against competitors. This map compare the quality and the price of the brand. I think Dolce and Gabbana has a high quality and a high price. However it is slightly cheaper than Prada and Gucci.  Proposed:  This is where I think my proposed brand D&G will sit against competitors in the market. I think it will be in the same area as competitors such as Moschino and Versus. It will be of a high price and high quality however it will be a lower price point than original Dolce and Gabbana brand.

Layout Design Development

Here are some screen shots I took earlier on in my marketing report development. This useful to look back at and see the improvements I have made, I also think it is useful to keep them incase I didn't like how I had changed it and wanted to go back to how it was. I definitely think in the first spread threre it too much going on and it needs to be made much more simple, I also think that the text needs to be positioned into the middle of the page in the last one. I am happy with the changes I Made to these spreads and it definitely took a long time to figure out how I wanted my report to finally look.
