Website review
Dolce and Gabbana Website
I have decided to look at the website to see how Dolce & Gabbana expresses themselves online and to see how easy the website is to use etc. The website is a very important feature in this day and age as a lot of people would prefer to order online rather than physically going into the store. It means that you don't have to go out anywhere and take time out of your busy life to go and buy and try it on when you could just order it after a few clicks and return if its not right with no hassle. Especially as Dolce and Gabbana prepares for the next generation of consumers. I think it is a good thing to have all of the recent collections and news on the home page as this makes the website a page all about the brand and not just making sales.
This is the home pages for men and women. The initial page for the website shows the recent collections and news from Docle and Gabbana. It includes a slide show of different collections and areas in the website, such as a gift guide, 'rainbow' watch collection, 'a special party style' and #DGYourself. Once you click on ' online store' to directs you to a new tab which contains all the different categories. The categories include: Sale, Women, Men, Children, Watches and Jewellery, Gifts, #DGYOURSELF, #DGMILLENIALS, WORLD. Then lower down it has the two options; Customer service and Contact.
This is the full list of selections at the bottom of the web page. I think that this website is really easy to use so far and all of the options are made very clear. The customer service and contact are very visible so if anyone had a problem they would know exactly where to go. They also have free delivery and free returns. The aesthetic of the website is very current and trendy, there is a moving image of a trainer with a helicopter wings moving around the page.
On the section for #DGMILLENIALS you can see a definite change as its meant to be aimed for the younger consumers:
The categories within #DGMILLENIALS contain, 'Young And Wild Talents' and contains images of influencers and celebrities dressing in the style of D&G when you click on each of the images it takes you to the collection, the collection includes styles which are clearly aimed at the younger generation, it has lots of bold statements, large jewels and printed patterns. I think this is a really good idea for Dolce & Gabbana as it is preparing them for the next generation and by catering online for them if will make them feel included and in favour of buying from the website.
The #DGYOURSELF section is really interesting. Its all about personalisation and creating your own designs for trainers and loafers. I think this is a really good idea to get people involved, by having personalised designs it means the customer can get a one of design which is guaranteed that no one else will have. It is a really good advertising point especially for the younger generation, this is also an idea that can only happen online, as the customer creates there own designs however they wouldn't be able to do this in store. Therefore it shows how important the website is and how it can be used in more ways than just simply showing what items are for sale. I was really pleased with the Dolce and Gabbana website.
