We can see Dolce and Gabbana is 5th on this list, this shows that they are very successful beating competitors such as Valentino, Prada and Versace. However D&G are behind main competitors such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton by over 8 million followers. This shows that there is definitely an area to improve and gain more followers to increase there online profile.

The French high-fashion powerhouse Chanel is the leading luxury brand on Instagram with 28.05 million followers. Louis Vuitton, known for its signature luxury bags and luggage, is the second most followed luxury brand on Instagram – 24.55 million followers. With 19.7 million followers on Instagram, Dior ranked fourth. Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Prada, and Michael Kors also have a strong presence in the platform, as all these luxury brands have over ten million on Instagram.

The photo-sharing social network service offers opportunities for brands to reach the public, manage its reputation, and positively shape the discussion about products. Instagram is also powerful platform for celebrity endorsements, considering singers such as Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and BeyoncĂ©, and television personalities and socialites Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are some of the most followed instagram accounts worldwide. Aware of this opportunity, brands are strengthening their presence in this social media platform to engage the community.
