As one of my recommendations for Dolce and Gabbana is to do a streetwear collaboration I wanted to research existing collaborations which I would take inspiration from.
Louis Vuitton X Supreme:
Unlike other supreme collaborations this one will not be available at supremes brick-and-mortar stores or online. The limited, one-off collaboration will be sold exclusively through Louis Vuitton stores later this year. Jones said the line designed with supreme would go on sale at select Vuitton stores on July 2017.
In 2000 Louis Vuitton sued supreme for knocking off its logo. by doing so Louis Vuitton made supremes knockoff box logo tees one of its most coveted items. The two brands, once feuding became friends and created everything from a skateboard trunk to a fanny pack together, every peice blending the logos, colours, signatures, and craftsmanship each brand is famous for. The collaboration was so hotly anticipated that It was on sale for only a single say in a handful of cities around the world, after which the rets of Louis Vuittons planned pop ups were canceled, as such only the most dedicated shoppers and friends of each label, like Kate Moss and Rihanna managed to make out with any of the items at all. This is why there is so many imitations and c counterfeits.
This collection was so successful and was the leading example of a streetwear and luxury collaboration.
This collaboration opens up Louis Vuittons consumer to consumers who buy from supreme. This means they are opening themselves up to a larger and broader demographic.
I think this idea would be appropriate for Dolce and Gabbana as a lot of their products will already appeal to a streetwear audience and it seems as though they are working hard to target that segment of consumers.
